As you know, much of what I do goes back to my experience as a Marine. The lessons I learned overseas, the challenges I had coming home, and the importance of supporting our veterans are core to who I am.
What you may not know is that, at times, it’s been hard for me to talk about my own struggles with going to war and coming home from it. For the first time, I spoke in-depth about my own transition home and how I’ve dealt with post-traumatic stress.
I did this because I am incredibly fortunate to have this platform in front of the American people, and I want to use it to address issues that matter deeply to me. Veterans’ mental health is one of those issues–it always has been.
